Lung cancer remains the number one cause of cancer deaths among men and women in the United States. More than 170,000 individuals we’re diagnosed in 2005 with this disease and approximately ten percent or 17,000 of those individuals we’re non-smokers.  It’s estimated that 160,000 of those individuals diagnosed will die from the disease. Non-smoker’s lung cancer is on the rise and since no one knows exactly how non-smokers are getting lung cancer, there are no sure ways to prevent it.  Research remains critical not only to the treatment of the disease, but to its prevention as well that’s why the Rosalind Martin-Handsome Lung Cancer Foundation has been established in an effort to raise awareness and funding for research.
